Shri Daulat Ram Dewan, founder of Dewan Daulat Ram Charitable Trust Society, was born on 20 April
1902 in a family of progressive zamindars in District
Sialkot. He passed his matriculation examination with merit.
Because of his aptitude towards teaching, he completed
Teachers’ Training and took up the job as Head Master of a
Middle School. Later on he shifted to Gujrat and worked as a
teacher in Khatro Laboha High School, Tanda Estate, Gujrat
(Pakistan).
On partition in 1947, like millions of other victims, he was
forced to leave his home and stayed in various camps and
lastly settled in Meerut to begin a new lease of life again
as a teacher. Teaching was in his blood and he was inspired
by knowledge, love and service to all. Throughout his life,
he followed the supremacy of the Absolute, the brotherhood
of the man and the blessedness of peace and goodwill.
